I just bought my first corvette, 2008 JSB coupe and immediately installed a Borla catback exhaust, hoping it would make my car a lot louder. I was very disappointed to say the least. I’m going to buy Kooks LT headers 1 7/8 and I was wondering if I need to buy their catless/off road x pipe or if I can keep the Borla x pipe. Will it make any different in performance or sound to keep the Borla? I don’t want to waste several hundred dollars I spent on the Borla x pipe if I don’t have to.
Thanks!
Alex

Yea just keep your Kooks mid-pipe and buy a Borla axle back system. I have TX Speed headers w/ catless mid-pipes, and Borla Ataks on my '06 LS2. It sounds so good, much, much better than the stock mufflers I had. My car is also cammed so that does add to the loudness a bit.

A cam will be next on my to-do list. But after a quote for the cam and headers, I decided I didn’t want to pull the trigger on the cam just yet. Hopefully headers will be loud enough for me. I have the Ataks too. Every post I see, people talk negatively about the drone inside the car while cruising. I guess I’m weird but I want that drone to be loud AF. I don’t listen to music in the car, just my exhaust.
Mine drones slightly sometimes around town, and I'm used to it. It doesn't bother me at all. But, on the highway cruising at 70+ there is no drone at all and it's actually very quiet. I'm extremely happy with my Borlas, paid $550 for them used from Ebay and they look brand new!!
