Hi all
on my 2006 C6 the engine check light comes on with 'check gas cap' DIC, I have done some research and changed the fuel cap for a new one. This has not remedied the problem
I clear the fault with an obd2 scanner and get the code 'P0455'. To make sure it was not cap leakage, I put a plastic bag over the gas filler and made sure it was sealed with tight
rubber bands. I am only guessing this is a way to check the fuel cap or filler viability ? anyway this again did not cure the problem. Further research has indicated many other possibilities.
These range from evac hoses to evac vent solenoid. Please can someone kindly give me the order of most likely causes after the fuel cap. Also a rough idea of where the component or hose is situated would be most helpful. I was a mechanic many years ago when we had carbs and points etc so I am not a total dummy but all this evap stuff is not my bag man. I look forward to your help
Regards Gary

Had the same issue with my '05 several years ago. First changed the gas cap as you did....no joy. Then replaced the evac vent solenoid, which cured the problem. Easy DIY....located in right rear adjacent to the tank....cost less that $20 here.... https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ust+&+emission
Well Gary you can fire the "parts canon" at it and hope it will fix it !!...yes, it may be a stuck open vent solenoid, a stuck open purge valve (you may see some driveability issues with this after the tank is filled up ie...will run rich and then run lean) or a leak in a hose...without a bi directional scan tool and a smoke machine you'll only be guessing !!
