Hello all, I recently picked up a 2005 and absolutely love the car. I have been lurking here on the forum and gathering a bunch of information. I decided to get a mail in tune as the car had a vararam intake and I changed the exhaust cat back with a local shop in Jacksonville Florida. My goal was to tune the "stock" out of it and hopefully improve throttle response. After a bunch of searching I decided to work with the fine folks over at ECS with Doug and Chris and both have been fantastic to work with.
That said, post tune, the car is an absolute beast and I love it. BUT, i am having an issue with a dead pedal. In other words, VERY sporadic, i will come up to a red light and the RPM's drop to below 500 and the pedal is dead. nothing I do will get it to respond. No error messages, no DIC info, no check engine lights, just no response from the pedal. If i turn the car off then back on, all is back to normal and no issues and car drives great, until it decides to do it again.
This weekend I drove from Jax to Birmingham AL and on the way back early on, before i got on the highway it did it. I decided to plug in my OBD2 Bluetooth scanner and Torque Pro App and log for Doug and see if anything jumped out at him. Needless to say i drove the remainder of the trip trouble free. 7.5 hours not one issue. I was actually mad that the car wasn't acting up. Literally the last stop sign before my house, poof it did it. Turned car off and on, and right back to normal.
Obviously I am working with Doug and we are going to try a few things, but I figured I'd ask the fine folks here to see if anyone else has ever experienced and what was the culprit. I have searched and have found three other people with similar if not the same report, but no one has closed out and said if they found a resolution or what the resolution was.
First thing is I thought this was a thread about a manual trans issue by your heading...if your concern started after getting your “mail in tune” I’d start there...I would check your TB for cleanliness and no binding...if you have a scanner I would look at your APP and TPS data PIDS...if you can graph those data PID voltages I would see if you have any voltage glitches or drop outs in the signal depressing the throttle...the best way is to check using a scope but that’s something your average DIY’er doesn’t have...good luck and if you want to make the trek down to Southwest Florida I’d be happy to look at it for you...LOL !!
