Default Thinking about a 416 stroker....

Pros and Cons ? Looking at the Texas Speed kit for my GS LS3 auto. I did the TSP cnc port and mill with a Pat G spec cam with his tune last year and it dyno'd at 450 rwhp. Runs great but I occasionally track and Autocross and looking for a little more grunt. I'll check with him to see if it will need a different cam but looking for input from those who have done it.

I have a similar plan in mind if my LS3 ever goes **** up. Either Tx Speed or Thompson will do the work. I also have Tx Speed milled and ported stock heads along with a ported and rod modded intake manifold. I thought about going a little bigger than 416, but I'm afraid I'd need more cylinder head. Might even need a better set of cylinder heads if I stop at 416. I'm running a 226/234 115lsa custom Cam Motion cam now. I know the cam needs to be upgraded, but don't want to go so big as to lose any drivability. What cam are you running now?

Mine is close to yours. I have a auto with stock converter which might have to loosen up with that bigger motor. I hope I can still run the heads I have now.

You'll definitely need a new cam. Depending on how much you milled the heads, you may need to use dished pistons.

We just completed the short block on my new 416 today, used Texas Speed stuff including cam, waiting on heads to get back from being CNC'd now. I will keep you updated.

I used a K1 steel crank 4" stroke (had it balanced), K1 H beam rods 6.125, Carrillo Forged pistons +3 with valve relief. Block bored .005 over, decked .005 to get zero at TDC, True double roller timing chain, stock LS3 heads that are being CNC'd with a little extra work with the valves and angles. Texas Speed base F35 cam with some custom grinding to my specifications. Comp Cams trunion kit, Texas Speed custom length push rods. Haven't decided on the intake yet, the stock LS3 performs very well on the dyno unless you spend $1,200 plus dollars on something a little better ( I like the Edelbrock crossram). Built this to do some track days and play some on the street. Going in a 05 Z51 base 6 speed.

I had Mamo spec me a 416 kit. We ended up going with a Manley balanced rotating assy with htuff rods and weisco -15cc dish pistons. That will put me at 10.25 to one. Heads will be afr 260x castings that Mamo will do his magic on aiming for 69cc chambers. Foking expensive but well worth it. I’ll probably have tsp do the work since they are down the road from me. My sbe is pushing close to 800whp now so I’m hoping to have all this done later this year. Mamo is top notch, trustworthy and utilizing his expertise and talent is well worth the added costs.
