So - an update on my problem. I spent a couple of hours this afternoon doing some work on the Vette. I started by pulling the battery out. I could NOT see where the Battery ground went, I tried to remove the underhood fusebox, and that did not go well either. I did remove and clean three frame grounds on the Pass side part of the frame. All were nice and tight - one was a touch sketchy (see image below) but the other two seemed fine. I also pulled the two major multi-pin connectors by the battery apart (one came apart pretty easily - the other one really didn't want to separate - but finally succumbed). Everything looked nice in there - so I just put them back together. The battery terminals looked fine, but since everything was apart - I cleaned them again, and reinstalled the battery.

I got in the car - put my foot on the brake pedal and hit the start button. Nothing - than about 4- 5 sec later - she cranked and started. The dashboard light show was just like it was before - but about second or two after it lit up - something "reset", and, all the lights and DIC warning messages went out !!!

I don't know if it's fixed or not - I let it run for 15 minutes and did an quick oil change. (I couldn't drive it as there was another "problematic" car right behind it). Tomorrow is supposed to be a washout - so I probably won't get a chance to do much till sometime next week - but I'm hopeful.

I'll keep updating - but progress is being made....

Only negative is that after disconnecting the battery - I tried to reindex the windows, and when I get out of the car the window does it's normal "drop" thing - but doesn't go back up when I close the door. I tried several times (3 consecutive down / up cycles), and it just doesn't want to go back up after the door is closed.

Reindexing the windows - you could also try something that I do and works every time - when you are in the Vette (doors closed and ignition on) just take both window switches (on driver side) and pull them in the up position and hold them for 15 seconds to reindex the windows

I have never had an issue doing it this way - give this a try and see if it works for you too

Thanks,Matt

Just a quick update. We have both Good & Bad news ...

The Good news is that holding the window switch in the up position for 15 sec DID convince the "system" to re-index the window, and it fully closed after the door was shut.

The bad news is that today - when I went to start the car - it took multiple pushes of the start button to finally convince it to crank, and when it did crank it - I had the check engine light back on. A short drive showed that the trans was again "locked" in a gear (probably 4th) and completely ignored the paddle shifters. I took it around the block and pulled the codes afterwards - and got the U0100 (Communication Error) & P0700 (Trans Control Module).

Looks like a new TCM is probably in my future...
