Noticed today when I took the car out that when I turn sharply I hear a thump sound. Can't pinpoint location. Sounds like if you hit a tire with a dead blow hammer. Not metallic at all. A low thud. Happens when I turn left and right. It has to be a sharp fast turn, it doesn't make the thud noise on slow turns. I checked the axle nuts, they were fine. Its a 2009 6M Z51 with 19,100 miles on it.

Could be stabilizer bar bushing, control arm bushing, stabilizer bar link or even a shock bushing. Best way is to raise each corner of car & heave on wheel to see if you get any unusual movement.
I didn't have a chance to test it, but the battery was loose enough to slide around pretty easily. This just might be the problem. I'll post up when I drive the car again to see if this fixed the problem. Either way good call.
A loose battery was the culprit! Who would've guessed? FYI, If you experienced a slight jerk or bump when turning extremely sharp, steering wheel maxed, at slow speeds...I'd say it was "Tire Hop/Skip." Happens usually with older stiff tires during slow tight turns.
I have experienced the tire hop and skip.....noticed the thump issue a few weeks ago while making a turn. then last week or so, I was going through a round-a-bout and heard the thump. kinda crap my self thinking something suspension related until I seen the post regarding the battery. got home and checked the battery and the clamp was loose for whatever reason and the battery was freely sliding side to side.
