Default power steering help

first start up, the 07 c6 coupe and steering is very free. After a little warm up it stiffens up to seem controlled. Has any body had this or know what the cause is. Have plenty of fluid but it may have run dry before m,e so could it be a pump going bad. Need some ideas.
Always thought no fluid would be very stiff. Hard to turn but not the case here, very free then gets stiffer the longer u drive.

did you try a fluid flush?

you can also put the car in the air, start the engine, and try turning the wheel back and forth to see whats going on with the pump....

"Even if your power steering fluid isn't boiling, if it gets too hot it can get burnt destroying its ability to lubricate your system and keep it running quietly. If you suspect your power steering is burnt either from the color or the smell, consider having your system flushed immediately."

"

Power Steering Pump

A failing power steering pump will often generate excess heat through the grinding of worn bearings and gerotors. The fluid on the low-pressure side of the pump will begin to boil and rise through the reservoir.

Hard Driving

Rapid back-and-forth sawing on the steering wheel can cause an overheat condition in the rack-and-pinion steering.

Consequences

After it has been overheated, power steering fluid loses much of its lubricity and resistance to future super-heating."

good luck!
