Edit! Just an updated, if anyone was curious, it was a broken exhaust manifold bolt! $400 fix, got the car aligned, new battery (dead because I didn't drive it for 3 weeks), $700 total repair. Going in on Tuesday.
Hey folks! Trying to diagnose some engine noise. Sounds like a mix of something whining, belt noise, intake, idk what. Most prevalent from 2K - 3Kish rpm. Any ideas?
Car has brand new quality belts and a new harmonic balancer. Its louder when its cold, and gets quieter once its warmed up but doesn't completely disappear. Doesn't seem to get faster with RPM, just louder.
Edit: 2nd better sound clip. You can hear it clearly at 40 seconds in when I bounce around 2 - 3k rpm. Sound recorder sitting right next to the engine on the passenger side, near the fuse box.

was the noise there, before you replaced the parts?? not 100% sure if yours has automatic belt tensioner or bolt type adjustment one??? I just got my Vette Saturday, but am a autotech and would be looking at the belt being too tight....
I hear nosie that pertains to the valve train. Is that what your talking about. I don't hear anything else that would concern me except valve train.
Not sure honestly. I don't hear it at idle at all.
In the 2nd clip, in the first 15 seconds, its the kind of screechy noise that shows up. 3 seconds in and then very clearly at 7-10 seconds in.
And then in the first video, from 1:15 - 1:30, you can hear it mid rev, but Its most noticeable under load like in the first clip.

Hard to tell. It does sound kind of similar to the noise the harmonic balancer was making, or the belt rather, was making prior to replacement. But those sounds drowned out anything else at all RPM and idle. I'll have to take a look at the belt tensioner.

take the belts completely off and run it without them totally for few and see if you hear it still....thats how I diagnose engine noises or any kind of funny noise from front of engines. 25 year ASE and NISSAN tech veteran....at NISSAN dealership......

Thanks for that. Not the belts it seems. Pinpointed the noise now to the drivers side rear of the engine. Possibly an exhaust leak? Manifold leak maybe? I'll try spraying around the manifold and looking for bubbles. Some pictures attached. Looks fairly clean, but there is some discoloration towards the rear. Nothing that screams exhaust leak to me tho.

Wait, $400 labor for a broken manifold bolt??? Uhhh wtf.....
Yeah, the rear most bolt next to the firewall. They said $400 max, with parts (gaskets / bolts), said its a pain to get to and could take up to 4 hours max. Idk, I thought that seemed fair but hopefully its less. Just watched a few videos and it actually doesn't look very hard at all.

Nah I hate to tell ya but they are stickin it to you. It’s not hard at all to change that bolt out. And if the gasket even needs to be replaced they are like $10-$15 a piece. Is the bolt broken off in the head?? If not then I would run away!

Bolt sheered in half, not sure where it sheered exactly but they have to extract it. I unfortunately do not have the time or tools to attempt at the moment. I appreciate the feedback!

If they have to exact the bolt from the head then yea that’s definitely a lot more work, I would imagine they will have to remove the manifold completely to do that, possibly even pull the head off... I really don’t know, but that sounds like maybe why they quoted you so much. Either way hope they get you taken care of
