I have been anticipating something to code for a couple days now, and now it has. Something wasn’t quite right on the last couple outings. First a clunking from the front end in corners, then a quick jab and pull from the brakes tonight, followed by the Service Active Handling System error code. I have read back on the forum posts here, and I will look at the few things I can, however considering the very mechanical and new noise from my steering linkage I have a sinking feeling its more than a loose plug wire, or will disappear on the next start up..
So, with that is there anyone out there with similar symptoms before catching the code? Could worn suspension parts or bushings set the code off? Loose anti sway bar? Its an older car and I picked it up with 67000 miles on it, so it would be about that time for replacing this kind of thing I would imagine. Its funny and I probably should not put this into the universe, but I was worried about my torque tube going south on me, have been seeing a lot of coverage online lately about this and the C6. And as I said earlier, there was something in the air that told me something was gonna give..
But I digress, I plan to have my mechanic take a look at it, if anyone has any suggestions regarding my issue, or what to do “while Im down there” considering the age and mileage of my rig, I welcome any feedback you can offer.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read/respond.
It could be a wheel bearing, which you would need a new front wheel hub that incorporates the wheel speed sensor. This is just s guess on my part, but it could cause what you are experiencing.
FYI, I have over 110000 miles on my C6 and no issues with the torque tube to date,

You may be right as far as the clunking goes, but Lo and Behold, no code this morning. I did push all my plug wires in to make sure they were all seated, and there were a couple that traveled when pressed. Some of the comments on previous similar threads here, mention loose plug wires being at least partially responsible for some folks. I also noticed that the mode control button was not returning to its default position occasionally, and it was actually stuck between the depressed position and ready position when I started looking into the problem this morning. So I took a little rubbing alcohol and dripped it into the switch. Depressed the switch a few times, took the edge of a business card and swiped around the inside and repeated the process till the switch returned to its ready position without any issue. Im guessing soda or some other schmutz must have got to in there. I am not sure if either one of those had anything to do with why its fine today, but after a spirited test drive this morning the car seems fine.
I will keep an eye on it, and may still bring it in to my mechanic to check the wheel bearings and suspension, bushings and perhaps the motor mounts. All the rot prone undercarriage rubber and sway bar bushings etc.
Could this really have been the issue? A stuck button? Id be curious to hear from some of you hands on mechanics and tech savvy members on that.
Thanks for your feedback!
