Default Kooks Headers Gasket Question

Hello everyone,

I am about to pull the trigger on some 2" Kooks Headers and catted x-pipe and I have been reading that the OEM gasket is far superior to the Kooks gasket they provide. I would assume under normal circumstances that getting a new set of OEM gaskets would be ideal, but my car has less than 14k miles right now and I assume that the current gasket on the car probably has little wear. Would reusing my current gasket be reasonable with the low miles, or is it always a good idea to just buy new OEM gaskets regardless?

Thanks!

No problem re-using the stock gaskets even with a lot more miles.

Thanks. That seams like the consensus, but I always like to double check things like this before starting a new project.

On a similar note, it also seem like getting new header bolts is not entirely necessary too. Even if there is some rust on my OEM bolts, sounds like I can just clean them up and apply some anti seize?

No anti seize on bolts in aluminum heads. It would be a good idea to chase the threads in the heads to clean them out. New bolts are around 4.50 each and already have a slight amount of sealant on them. New gaskets OEM are recommended unless you want to do this a second time. Don’t cheap out. Torque to spec.
