Default Cooling Fan Issue

I'm having some issues with my ZR1. The car blew/melted the 60A Fuse for the cooling fan couple weeks ago, I replaced it and it seemed to work OK. The other day it blew again and one thing I've realized is that it blows after I turn the AC on, now that might be causing it or it might be a coincidence but I need help figuring out why it's doing it. The PWM unit is set to 90% in the tune. My buddy thinks my fan is pulling to many amps and causing it to burn up.

Any ideas?

The plug connection from the harness to the fan module is known to melt causing issues.
Some just continue to replace the connecter every so often.
Some just hardwire the entire thing.

I finally ditched the entire oem assembly on the tt car and installed DeWitts radiator and brushless fan. The brushless fan is waaaaay more efficient and eliminates the fan module and plug entirely. It's not a cheap option but a serious upgrade over oem and eliminated any cooling and/or wiring issues previously.

I should have added that mine is hard wired. Can you tell me more on your fan setup? I was about to pull the trigger and order the ProSpeed setup but they're currently 4-6 weeks out and I'd like to enjoy my car while I can.

It's a single brushless fan and doesn't run off the the ecm.
Call and verify which model # fits your vehicle.
https://www.dewitts.com/products/17-brushless-fan-kit

I purchased both the rad and brushless fan combined. Not cheap but a definite improvement over oem for cooling/air flow and eliminating the failed electrical gremlins that occasionally crop-up.

I was snooping on their website and see that, looks very nice! How is yours wired up? You have the inline temp sensor or sensor into the head?

If u had no heating issues with stock fans i would get a meter and check amp pull at the fan to fuse before diving into new parts but if this is an issue with many cars then go for it but its hard to believe thousand of vett owners are doing this.

or your one of the unlucky one that got this problem.

What could go bad that would cause too much amp pull?

how long does it take to blow the fuse. really u have to check the amp then if i blows without a surge by the fan it might be an intermit wire touching ground.

I'll have to check the amp draw. I think it blows once I turn the AC on but I'll double check that theory once I get my car back from RPM Transmission.
