Default AC blows cool but not cold

I have an 09 C6 M6 base coupe which I bought last year and the AC has never been cold cold. Summer was bearable last year but now I'm in Texas and the AC temperature just isn't cutting it. I took it to a place last month to get recharged and it needed a bit of freon and they didn't find any leaks.

On the lowest temperature setting the air will blow cool while I'm driving and it's reasonable on average days but when it's 100 degrees out the car isn't able to cool down and I'm hot the whole trip. When the car is at a red light or just idling the air is less cool but as soon as I start driving it is back to the regular temperature.

I'm not sure if the AC in C6's is just not great or if there's some issue with mine. The compressor kicks on, the freon level is fine, and I don't see any other issues with the heater or anything. Any advice on where to start or what to check?

radiators and condensers are notorious for picking up sand and other junk.....

it could be that you need to blow out the coils.... or top off the r134a or both....

they do blow cold once they're cleaned out and topped off.... even idling in a parking lot in so fl in the middle of the day in the middle of summer...

What temperature does it blow out? Check it both in the morning when it's cooler and when it's hot and not blowing cold.
Are you sure the place you took it to even did it properly? Did they tell you what the pressure difference was between the high side and the low side, or if there were issues with the pressure levels? Or how many ounces they evacuated and put in? That would be my first step, is make sure that was even done properly.
Second step is make sure your condenser is not filthy. I've seen some people show the area between the condenser and radiator and it was disgusting.

Another possibility is that hot air from the heater core is getting into the ductwork somehow.

I leave near the beach and there is allot of dust and sand. When you say blow out the coils is that like blowing a leaf blower towards the radiator (hehe). Sorry new to this.

Mine did the same thing last year. Disconnected the battery for a minute and that reset the system. Don’t forget to index the windows.

Ok so I disconnected the battery, gave it a few seconds and reconnected. Everything worked normal again. So does this mean my car's computer is going defective or ?

No. All it needed is a reset. This is like turning your phone or iPad off..Simple reset.

For reference my 2009 C6Z's AC is cold, cold. Probably the coldest AC of any car I have owned. The car has 20K miles and the AC has never been serviced.

blend door actuators perhaps needed to be reset or relearn their stop and open points.

Agree...the c6 has one of the best AC systems ever....air blows from my 2012 at down to as low as 18 degrees in 80 degree weather using my temperature gun..and as a reference my 2021 Ridgeline bows about 25....same day.

op good luck with ac...
