I recently got a P0449 code in my '06 LS2 while driving in stop and go traffic in the NC mountains. I was able to reset by disconnecting the battery. Is this normal, never had it happen before.

As Curt D noted, usual cause is a bad evap vent solenoid, which is an inexpensive part ($20/$25) and an easy DIY replacement. First though, check the fuel filler cap to make sure it tight. A loose cap will also trigger that fault code. Once re-tightened, several ignition cycles are needed to clear the code if that was cause of the fault.

Just as an FYI, this code can be caused on GM trucks when someone tries to "top off" the gas tank after the pump shuts off. The charcoal filter canister partially fills with gasoline, eventually plugging it up. Not sure if it applies to a Vette, as I don't remember seeing it posted here.

I changed the evap vent solenoid and the gas cap when I bought the car about 2 years ago. First thing I thought of was the gas cap as my son in law was riding with me and he put the cap on when I was hanging up the gas nozzle. No problems since resetting by disconnecting the battery to clear the code so hopefully it was just some fluke thing.
