Default C6 brake replacement mileage?

What was the mileage when you replaced your factory brake pads? No tracking, just daily driving.
Brake pad recommendations? I have the F55 option w slotted rotors on base model.

Z51 and up models with the more aggressive HD brake pads tend to last around 30K miles, while the base model ceramic brake pads tend to last round 60K instead.
As for rotors on either , will be able to turn them once to clean them up on after their first set of pads, then will need to replace them on the second set of pads for the rotors since they will be too thin to turn again.

As for the C6 pads, should be pulling them once a year to check them out for wear amounts, and to re-silicone brake grease the backing parts of them/mating metal sections on the calipers, to prevent them from squealing. Every two years, should be doing a power flush on the brake fluid to get the old out, and the new fluid in.

So would guess by you asking the question in the first place, brake fluid is long over due for a power flush, and good time to pull the pads to check the wear amounts out, and clean re-grease them/the caliper as needed yearly as well.

mr misinformation, Brake pads and calipers Z51 and Base are the same except for the rear caliper on the Z51 in which the piston is 2 MM smaller, what if I can drive and my foot is not on the brake because there's an orange cone 4 miles away, how long will my pads last? what if I can't drive and my foot is on the brake constantly or I ride the brake pedal, how long will my pads last? If you use a good pad and your calipers are working properly you can probably throw in a set of pads and go who knows another 40,000? BEFORE I just threw my rotors away because I turned them once wouldn't be prudent advice to measure them with a micrometer to see how thick they really are? I got 80,000 on my DBA 4000 series rotors and I use Hawk HPS pads, I won't be buying rotors very soon, If it wasn't for seat belts I would have nose prints on the inside of the windshield. brake grease does not go any where no need too add more, and you can just look at the pad from above the caliper, just take the wheel off no need to pull the pads.

Dano isn't the one putting out misinformation. The HD brakes included with the Z51 package do indeed have a different pad with a different compound than the base car.

I personally get over 70K from OE Z51 rotors and pads.

i mean, you could burn up your brakes in 100 miles if you rode em the entire way...

the best way is to take the wheels off and inspect the pads...

i know, its a shitty answer, but really the only way to be certain....

there's lots of pad options and opinions to go with them...

if you're not tracking the car, you can pretty much get anything behind the counter at the auto parts stores....

I bought AC Delco rotors from rock auto and some Hawk HPS pads. About $400 total. Less dust, quieter, and great bite.

J55 HD brake pads tend to last around 30k of normal city traffic type driving of a sport car.

Some have gotten far more milage out of the HD pads, but mostly highway cruising that is racking up mileage and not using the brake that much instead.

And again, we are talking the J55 HD pads, that are more aggressive that the base pads, and which will give greater initial bite, had better pedal feed back, and higher working temps.

If the pads where replaced with say a set of Base ceramic pads (since they will fit the J55 calipers), then may get 60K out of them (but will give up the greater initial bite, the greater pedal feed back, and will not have the higher working temps of the HD pads).

And again, it a vet, so pads should be pulled yearly to clean their and the calipers mating surface, then the pads checked for wear limits, and if to be reinstalled, then metal mating surfaces between the pads and the calipers re-lube with silicone brake grease. Hence the reason for this, it just the normal car washes of the car over a year with the caliper so exposed, that the brake grease can be washed away within that time period to cause brake squeal problems of the dry metal to dry metal parts.
