Default Mag ride Shocks bad? or something else

I have a 2006 base vert with about 53k miles. it has MRC and original shocks. I've noticed lately that when I hit bumps the car sways. its definitely enough to catch my attention and it doesn't take a huge bump to notice. the mag ride is definitely working as I can feel the difference between Tour/Sport and it still sways in both modes but a little less in sport. the car handles great fine otherwise and doesn't pull either way ... goes straight down the road and seems tight. it's very annoying since PA roads aren't exactly smooth like glass LOL

I've noticed it more since I have Drag radials on rear this season.

My questions are:
1. could shocks be bad?
2. could something be wearing on sway bar links?
3. could tires be causing it?

The question that comes to mind is: Are the tires you run with minimal tread? and the front tires RF's?
I found when I was running 1/2 worn GY F1 Supercars, my car would do the same on bumps ans especially bad on bridge expansion joints.
The non runflats I replaced them with cured those problems. Those tires and my latest don't move on bumps or expansion joints of bridges. I ran 3 sets of Firestone Indy 500's, and now on Michelin PS 4S tires.
The sway bar end links could be the start of the movement at that mileage. Mine were starting to make noises at around that mileage.
The MRC shocks should still be good at that low mileage, so unless all else is exhausted, that wouldn't be the first place I would look.

Tires are often the root of all evil when handling and smooth ride starts going downhill.
Good Luck

Good point on the tires - The rear tires are 305/30/19 Nitto drag radials , but the front are wide oval firestone firehawk 245/40/18 . I have had them on the car since I bought it (5 years ago) and the previous owner said they had 14k miles on them when I bought (so that makes about 25k miles on them total?). I plan to replace them over the winter while car is on jack stands in my garage - inspection garage that I've been going to for 15+ years said I should replace them by next summer.

I had the sway bar , ends, rack, etc out when I installed the SC and HB and everything "looked" good but wasn't sure on how often things start going bad. I would think that mechanic would say if something was loose/worn during the yearly PA inspection....

as for the shocks.... I was hoping they aren't bad. but when they do finally decide to go, I'm considering doing something aftermarket

appreciate the reply! I will look closer at the front tires when I get home.

The tires look like thry msy be down to 4/32" tread depth. I always fiund that they started to be nousy when they got to thst depth or lower. Also, the age of the rubber is not working in your favor either.
I'm convinced that once you get new rubber all around, you will notice a huge improvement.
Tire Rack is a great site for tire reviews. Rule of thumb is stay away from Goodyear RF's, or any Goodyear tires. Not many on here will give a thumb up for Goodyear.

long shot, but after trying to track down a suspension issue ( '09, 3LT, w/mag ride ), the car kept bottoming out over med/large bumps ( where it didn't before ).
after a couple of months, my local shop pin pointed it to combination of all 4 leveling bolts ( fronts were missing the pads, both rears were bent ). the biggest issue was that all 4 transaxle mount bolts were broken in half.
you could not tell by looking at in a static position as, the broken portion was hidden in the mount, when you separated the transaxle, then you could see them.
had them all replaced and six months later, all has been good.

good luck on your search.

What does "sways" mean? If that means the car grabs lines in the road then it's not your shocks, it's the rock hard 2 year+ old tires, sagging suspension and alignment
