I've searched the web and the forum and it seems the Blendmount is the only real option to mount my R7 without placing it on the windshield. I heard about a visor mount but can't seem to find it. What's the best recommendation to mount this out of the way and off the windshield?
I recommend the blendmount. I got tired of sticking the detector to the windshield.
Vision and view are way better with the blendmount. Also much cleaner look.
I got a mount for my uniden R3 on eBay. Permanently sticks to top of windshield. Out of field of vision.
just checked. Same mount I used fits R7. $8.50

I’m not a fan of the blend mount. It blocks too much of your right vision and is something that PoPo can write you up for.
Don't know about your state but here in California, it's the opposite, they can write you up for having it suctioned on the windshield. The mount I'm using doesn't block any of the right side, full view front to left still, even left it on by accident when I went to Willow Springs Raceway and didn't notice it the whole track day.

I've used the same on my last two Vettes and love it. Doesn't block vision like hanging it under the rearview mirror would, and it mounts close enough to the windshield so that the visor is still functional.
