Default MGW shifter vs Hurst

Anyone that has owned both the MGW and the Hurst short shifter, how do they compare? I like that the Hurst has bottoming screws to protect the transmission against "power shifts" and avoid bending the shift forks. Does the MGW have a similar feature? Thanks.

I've never used a Hurst shifter but I've run a MGW and a B&M shifter. I prefer the B&M shifter over the MGW. It was smooth like the stock shifter with a shorter throw. Didn't care for the notchy feeling of the MGW.

I had a Hurst on my 04 and 05, I have the MGW on my 2012, I like the MGW but the cars have different manuals so hard to compare.

I've had the Hurst, that's how I know about the backing screws to protect against "over extending the shifts" and bending the shift forks, but I've never experienced the MGW and was wondering if it has the same feature of the backing screws. It's a really simple and effective solution to avoid bending the shift forks.

Its not super common that guys have run multiple different shifters, they usually buy one and stick with that one or go back to stock and stay stock. I ran the B&M in my C5 and will be getting a MGW for the C6.

Forgot to add that bent shift forks are not common, so I wouldn't worry so much about getting the hurst to possibly prevent a problem that rarely happens.

Also I use GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid. Some use other synthetic Trans fluids. Helps with cold shifts and makes the trans shifts smoother.

Tell that to my friend who bent 3/4 and had to rebuild his T56....Might not be too common but it happens. I'd rather have them than not, the backing screws I mean. I'd wish someone could confirm if they're there for the MGW.

Don't need them.

I didn’t mean it doesn’t happen, it’s just not common. Do a quick search and select all forums. Trying to make the point that I don’t think it’s a necessity to base your choice on that alone.
