Default Torque Converter

Will a 3200 Stall converter, spill my coffee, when the transmission shifts, under normal around town driving?
I'm @ the point of adding a head/cam package which will include a torque converter change.
My biggest concern is that I'm about to ruin a perfectly great driving corvette because of my need for speed.

Unless you have the transmission re-programmed, a higher stall converter will not cause the car to shift harder during normal city driving ... if anything, it will shift a little softer during normal driving.

The one thing a higher stall converter will do is lower your 1/4 mile ET and cause the car to launch harder at WOT.

I am using a Circle-D 2,800 stall converter in my supercharged GS. It really helped a lot, but I don't think I would want a looser converter than the 2,800 that's in it now.

BTW, the stock converter is only about a 1,700 stall unit.

And, if the car is not a dedicated race car, you only need a single clutch converter.

A multi-clutch converter is only needed if you plan on locking the converter at WOT.

The head/cam/torque converter addition would also include a dyno tune.
Since I wouldn't install a very aggressive cam the 2800 stall may be the ticket.
I would discuss the various parameters with Yank or Circle D before purchase.
I've never driven a car with a high stall so the torque converter addition is a concern, I don't want
to turn my baby into a monster.

A 2,800 - 3,000 converter will not effect the overall driveability at all.

However, you may tire quickly of anything looser for a daily driver.

I had a Yank SS3600 in my old 99 Z28. Very little difference when driven normally. Newer converters act tighter under light throttle but really react when you hammer the throttle. I’m putting a SS3600 in my 2012 base even if I keep the factory cam.

That 2800 stall acts more like a 3200 behind the supercharger.
