Default Adding cats

Getting ready to put on my Speed Engineering headers and mid pipe. Has anybody added cats to theirs? What did you use? Saw a pair of 3” in/out 4” body cats on ebag for $110. Anybody use these?

The high flow cats need to be installed on the X pipe at least 3" back from the header collector, so it not screwing with the way that the header collector scavanges.

So what ever size the X pipe is, will be the needed size for the High flow cats in and out.

As for the Speed Engineering header, the collectors to X pipe are slip fit, so use the slip fit part of the X pipes as your front sections to headers, then add in the high flow cats, begin that fitting, with sections of the X pipe cut out for the needed lengths of the high flow cats to weld them back in.

Myself, would just run the OBX headers with high flow cats and X pipe, since the bolt together header to X pipe flanges are a lot easy to pull apart at a later date, you don't have to use pipe sealer on the header to X pipe slip fittings instead (make is worse to pull apart at a later date as well), and whole system with high flow cats goes for around $1K still.

As for best header/X pipe system with high flow cats, it was the Padt system, due to the clamping system of the header to X pipe, which did not leak, did not come unbolted, and made life simple when to pull the system apart to work on the car.

It's a shame that Pfadt went out of business ... There headers were excellent and the V-Band clamps that attached the end of the collectors to the x-pipe were perfect. Too bad they are not available anymore.

Agreed on the V clamps since they sealed very well and did not unbolt on there own, since way too many times you have to pull the X pipe to get at the torque tube tunnel, and with slip fit and sealer connectors, can be a major PITA to try to get them separated, even with the muffler pipes removed since the X pipe has to be pulled rearward to disconnect it from the headers.

On bolt clamp and V band type connectors, you can drop the front of the X pipe straight down once disconnected from the header connection, and just pull the X pipe forward to remove it from the muffler connection pipes with the muffler still in place on the car.
