Default BTR 2 or 3 ?

Doing Speed Engineering headers and midpipe. Have a Borla S on car now but also have a NPP axle back to use.
putting in a Yank SS3600 converter.
want to do a cam at same time, either the BTR2 or 3
here is the question. For people who have used the BTR2, how is the idle with LT’s and off-road mid pipe? With a NPP and the valves closed, could it possibly pass for a stock cam (with a 700-750 rpm idle)? If not, I’ll probably go with the BTR3 cam or something similar.
I have the exhaust parts and the converter is supposed to be here in 3 weeks so I need to get the cam parts.
car is a 2012 LS3 A6 car with 48k miles.

The only cam that is going to idle like a stock cam is a stock cam. Stage 1 cam is no where near as choppy as a 2 or 3. You should think more about your goals for your car first.

I had a 224-.600 cam in a LS1 Z28. It was only 5.7 litres. It was hard to tell it had a cam.
the BTR 2 is a 235@.050 cam in 6.2 litres.
I’d prefer a little stealth, but would never go smaller, cam wise. Hoping with a closed NPP will help.
like to hear from someone who actually has a similar set up not someone who is just guessing.

Not guessing. I have a TSP stage one cam with Corsa Sports. Definitely not stock sounding. Go to Texas Speed website and listen to Stage one clip. 225-236 114 LSA.

I have a BTR stage1 with a stock converter and it bucks a little. With the stall your going with you should be ok. With everything you'll need with the cam of your choice don't forget about the rocker arms. I found needle bearings in my oil change and did them after the build was done. Kinda pissed me off.

You might include the cam specs of the cams you're considering. Folks might not have that exact cam, but may have something similar.

This is the cam I’m getting installed. Of course Cordes Performance has a backlog, I can’t get in until Jan 24th. Really looking forward to this, it sounds great on their website, I’m running LT’s and bullets so it maybe a little louder.

I did a BTR Stage 2 a few years ago (10,000 miles ago) and it's doing just fine. I also did the trunnion upgrade on the rockers. It does have a lope and might be an issue for a stock torque converter in slow traffic, but if you're doing a higher stall that should not be a problem. My trans is an M6 so I don't feel any kind of jerking unless my rpm drops below 1400.

I have Speed Engineering headers and x pipe,Borla Atak and a BTR stage 2 cam in my 2008 automatic.DEFINITELY doesn't sound anywhere near stock.I still have the stock converter with no driveability problems.the guy who did the install also did the trunnion upgrade while installing the cam.You will love either cam you choose.I went with the stage 2 as I didn't want to change the converter. No regrets at all.
