Question for the guys and gals that work on their cars. Have you replaced the water pump on your C6 corvette, and if you did what other parts did you replace along with it? I have seen some posts where guys said they replaced the pulleys and belt along with the tensioner. I have no problem tackling this job. Just curious what some of you may have done in addition to replacing the water pump. Also, this may help. 2005 Z51 package, 103,000 miles.
Thanks in advance.
I replaced the water pump on my 2006 at 30k miles due to a pump seal leak. Fairly easy job. Along with a new pump, I also installed new water pump gaskets and a new thermostat and antifreeze.
Since the system was drained, I tool advantage and replaced all the hoses to silicone. That was 90,000 miles ago, and everything is still in great condition. I have changed out the antifreeze at 100000 miles. I changed out to new belts at this mileage as well. I'm still on the original pulleys and tensioners, but at about 50k miles, I repacked the upper tensioner with new grease.
Have you ever serviced the timing chain tensioner?
is your balancer running straight and true?
im doing everything, balancer, cam, lifters, rockers, springs, timing chain set, water pump, oil pump, power steering pump (leaking) front and rear seals, gaskets (oil pan leaking), hoses, belts, cam/crank/knock sensors yada yada...
I realize it’s a lot but I have the time (winter) and I have the front end pulled apart so everything is easy to work on now.
