Not trying to be cheap here but the Gates 45011 Water Pump is less than half the price of an OEM pump and since I’m doing such an extensive amount of work to my 07 saving a bit of $ here and there without sacrificing reliability is important. Any of you folks have any experience with Gates?
I bought the gates and standing it Side by side with the OEM I took off, you could see the quality machining of the parts in comparison to OEM. Night and day difference.
been on my ride for only 1k miles so far, so can’t comment to durability, but no issues as of yet.

I used the Gates and haven't had any issues, so far. I've only had it on for a thousand miles or so and one weekend at the track so it's not a lengthy history for me, either. It looks prettier than the OEM.

Mine was replaced with OEM in 2008 (its an 05 that had 35-40K on it at the time). Now has 111k + with no issues. Ive seen a good number of people on here recommend Gates over the years. Haven't heard a bad thing about them.
One thing you might do is convert to a later water pump (2009+). It moves the outlet to the drivers side which does a couple of things - it moves the hot hose out from under the air intake, it makes it easier to work on front of the car like turning motor over by hand or removing a camshaft sensor, and to maybe pivot off the gates thing is the later OEM pumps seem to be more robust than the early versions. I also did a side- by-side comparison and it looks like they made the passages larger in 2009+. If you do this you need a new thermostat as they are different and a new upper hose.
