Before you do that try a product called PLEXUS. I don’t know how bad your top is but it was designed to clean up motorcycle windshields. It is a little on the pricey side but works pretty well.
I have personal experience with the refurbish of the lexan top. It can be sanded, and then clear coated. Mine has been in service for 2 years after being recleared, and it still looks as the day it came from the paint shop.

There is also a company that puts a new lexan top on worn out tops. I'll try to find the name of the company, or someone will chime in.
