I decided to change the plugs and wires on my 2007 base model. It only has 25k miles on it. I know, I know, the manual says the plugs last for 100k, but I figured I would change them out due to the age of the car. Anyway, my question for all the experts out there that know far more than I do is, how do the plugs look? Do you think there is anything for me to have checked out with the car? I did look at some pictures online and I was kind of torn on what I thought when looking at them, which is why I posted this to see what others thought.
They look like what they are...virtually brand new. You should be proud that your engine is running so well on all eight cylinders after so many years.
They appear to be iridium? Which are high quality long lasting.
Careful attempting to gap iridium, do not damage them.
I would not "gap" them at all unless the engine was misfiring or you intend to turn up the wick on power significantly.
The larger the gap, the greater efficiency of the spark. SO you always want the largest gap possible. The only time we gap plugs down is when the spark is being "blown out" by high cylinder pressure. Which is both a tuning and power related issue.
