Default Loose fender over headlight?

Guys,

In need of some help. I've been working on the car, (HCI install) 2007 C6 Z06, and noticed that the fender appears to have a bigger gap/ can be pushed in and out at the area over the headlight. I've searched the forums and seems most people have issues at the corner where it mates with the bumper, but it seems pretty solid in that spot.

I also removed the small panel in the wheel well, to see what is up there in that spot, and using my videoscope, i see what seems to be a bracket on the back side of the fender, and almost like it should be connected to the headlight? but see no mention of what i see visually, around the internet nor in any videos i have watched, so not really sure what that bracket is, or whether that may or may not be my problem. I'm kinda spinning out on this as I hate not knowing whats wrong or how to fix anything. Any insight someone has would help tons! Thanks

this is something on the back spot of the fender where it feels the most play is, however it doesnt appear that it ever connected to anything?

The headlight is supposed to have a built in protrusion that fits in the hole of that bracket. At least my 2 headlights did when I replaced the lenses. Has the lenses been replaced? Maybe the new lenses didn't have that protrusion as per the top left of the
picture. I'm not sure if the new replacement lenses have these, or if it makes any difference. I have the old style lenses, and my fenders sit flush in that area.

Ok, thanks, good to know about the protrusion, so that makes it clear that it has nothing to do with the fender being tight or not In that area. So now, still need to figure out what can be done to fix the fender being loose or bowed in that area

It looks to me like the headlight gaskets have shrunk. I can push down on my fenders and get a little movement, but the gaskets prevent the downward push. I replaced my lenses a couple years back and replaced the gaskets with ones from RLSebring, my old gaskets had gaps all around the lens from shrinkage. Outside of that, my only suggestion would be to loosen all the screws along the fender in the engine compartment, to include the two underneath the bumper where it meets the fender, then push down on the fender and tighten the screws at the same time. This may change the gap between the fender and the hood though. One other thought, would be to loosen the three bolts that hold the headlight in place and push the headlight back, keep in mind this might make a gap at the front of the headlight.

Good luck, let us know the resolution you come up with.

Thanks for your input on a couple things to try. ive never noticed the gap before, so I'm not sure if it's been there for a while, it just happened, or that I just recently noticed it. It will be a little bit until I get to messing with it, but wanted input to formulate some options. Again, much appreciated
