Now the MAF is the flat rectangular piece that is held in by two screws on the side of the air intake?
Yes. It may look clean, but may not actually be clean. Cheap fix to try.
Disconnect the electrical plug, and remove the sensor.
Spray it clean with a can of MAF cleaner. Don't use carb cleaner, we40, etc.
Shake it out and set it in the sun for a few minutes to let all the spray evaporate.
Reinstall.
I literally just did this yesterday to see if it would help a slightly ragged idle at 108k miles.
It helped A LOT, cost $8 from Napa, and there is still 1/2-2/3 of the can left.
I am taking it in tomorrow to have the Harmonic balancer replaced and the sluggishness. I also noticed it feels like it has some slack in the driveline. Almost like there is something spinning and every once in a while I will feel like there is some slack being taken up and I hear something hitting something else that is turning fast. Maybe it is a bad torque tube is what it feels like. Maybe the off balance of the crankshaft from the balancer going bad caused the torque tube to go bad from all of the vibration that it has been taking... ? I just know it is something under my car that makes this horrible noise when I decelerate really hard ... I am also having the radiator cradle replaced and everything else that is exposed while the balancer is being replaced. Tensioner and pulley belt oil seal so forth... And the radiator cover is also new as it has cracked down by the bolt downs. So I will know more in a few days as it is going in tomorrow .. balancer replacement and possible toque tube repair and that sluggishness is hopefully is being caused by the bad balancer... so couple thousand in repairs
Thank you C5 Diag. I am east of the bay area yes out here in Tracy. I really appreciate your help I am taking it in tomorrow to have the work done here in Tracy Ill let you know what happened in a few days

No problem !!…as was said in the video…”you have to chase the vibration first”…the HB and TT repair is the easy part…the diagnosis is the more difficult part !!…just remind them to do a “crankshaft variation relearn” when they’re done…you don’t want any of those “ghost” misfires popping up down the road…who is doing the work ??…an indy shop or a dealership ??…good luck and let us know what they find !!
What do you think about if I was to bring this up ever so curiously when I drop off the car ..? Or do I just allow them to repair it and they know this already ? I am guessing that they know about this and if I say something that it might sound condescending or like I think I know something.. I just want to assume that they know this or I am going to question every step and thats not my reason for taking it to a shop .. I am honestly taking it to a shop and my number 1 thing that better happen when Take it to a shop is that I get a call a couple few hours later or next day and they say to me "your car is ready to be picked up and is all done" then I go pick it up and it runs like it did when it was new and I drive away .. .Is that what is not supposed to happen because I have not had that happen in a while and that is the only reason I take it to a shop and if that doesnt ever happen then why in the hell am I still doing something as stupid as taking my vehicle that has a misfire to a shop to repair.? Why ? Well I can not do it and now I am finding out that alot of shops out there cant do it either and that is what they do all day everyday but not on my car for some reason. If I was at work and I am a warehouseman teamsters union and I got an order to go fill a tag for a customer and get it ready for a common carrier delivery and I just dont do it and I would be in such trouble and would get replaced very quickly but these guys do this sort of thing all day every day and I am not ok or good or fine or just going to let it keep going on to others .. It is wrong and it needs to stop so I have a battle to fight now and I am gong to fight it because when I take my car to two places that are very reputable and they rip me off I do not like it .. Thanks for the fuel ...... short term and long term

I would just ask them before you leave after picking up the car…like I said the relearn takes but a minute…I wouldn’t “assume” they know this !!
Update on the corvette I wanted to ask you guys about this? The harmonic balancer is done and they did the radiator cradel as well because it was bent and one side of the radiator and mount down by the cradel was not even connected but thats all done. I am picking it up tomm morning .. As far as the misfire goes well they are saying that it is two cylinders that are misfiring and those two cylinders are a little lower compression then the others so he wants to do a leakdown test on Monday and hopefully it is not the Camshaft that is bad ? Do the LS motors LS3 motors have a issue with the camshaft? anyone hear this ? But the misfire is still there he said and he would like to do more diagnostics on it .. .. Which is what I wanted someone to do in the first place so this guy is good and I will know more monday ...
Lifter failures are fairly common. IIRC, heads have to come off to replace lifters. Cam can be replaced without replacing lifters without removing heads, but I personally prefer installing new lifters with a new cam.
Rocker arm trunnion bearings are also a common issue. There are numerous "upgrade" kits available for those that replace the factory needle bearings with either solid bushings or with caged roller bearings. If those bearings have failed, one of the upgrades is definitely recommended, especially if you run the thing up to high RPMs frequently.
Yeah I do not race this car it is my daily driver and I baby it but once in a while yes i will jump on it but that is what it is built for right i mean cmon. I am not going to like what is next i am sure of it... I think I HAVE A BAD torque tube or bushings are failing now as I hear something while at stop light and it is coming from under the car and there is a little slack in the drive line it feels like ... and along with that and the misfire which is still there and they will work on that monday but I could be looking at a new valve train and a new torque tube rebuild.. ? that is going to run up to 3000 or 4000 to repair .. I do like these guys though they did a good job on my harmonic balancer and radiator cradle all good there now.. That was 805.00 for the installation including the front oil seal and two new belts..
Normally with bad TT couplers you’ll see random misfires (P0300) but not cylinder specific…did they say if it was 2 specific cylinders ??…I’d ask if they do “in cylinder” analysis ??…if they do they won’t be guessing as far as valve train defects go with a cylinder specific misfire.
Wait a minute so the TT couplers will send a random misfire ? Ok now we are getting somewhere. Okay so I am assuming that the TT couplers will also throw the traction control active service light as well? So that just might be the issue then as I believe the couplers are going bad andf then if that is it that will explain the random misfires and the traction control service light... So what do you think is that logical?
so the system variation learn procedure has to be done after the harmonic balancer is replaced ? What f that was not done can the car still run normally ?
Also tjhey said they did a compression test and two cylinders were lower then the rest but thats all they said and they are going to do a leak down test on those cylinders on Monday but I am beginning to believe it is the torque tube that is the next fix to solve all of the check engine lights and the misfires and the active handling service lights ... I will mention it to them on Monday Thanks foer eveyones help in here you all are my heros thanks alot
There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for misfires and worn couplers..like in the video you have to chase the vibration…the worn TT’s are causing the misfires being detected because the crankshaft is slowing down…the AH may be a separate issue…let them scan for codes and see what they have… the TSB is PIP5067A and covers 2001-2013 Corvettes…you can Google the TSB..I thought I had the PDF downloaded but I can’t find it…the TSB says it may be cylinder specific…video below !!…yes, you should do the Crank Relearn to be sure you won’t have any ghost or false misfires…it will still run smoothly !!…the very first shop you took it to should look for those TSB’s FIRST !!

OK. What specific DTCs are showing in your vehicle now. Current and History, as well as "pending." The tools to read that are <$125 for higher quality tools capable of data logging, and <$40 for "economy" tools capable of reading the codes and doing some rudimentary diagnostics. If you can navigate this website and use a smart phone, you're capable of using the tools to do this. My recommedation is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_US&gl=US
I own both and use them with the app on a couple of different android devices. I got the better OBD-Link MX+ adapter when I found the BAFX one was too slow to provide useful data logging for diagnostic use and performance tuning.
And I wouldn't pay for a compression test if they didn't write down actual measured cylinder pressures for all cylinders and provide those results for me.
And personally, I'd never do a leak down test on a single cylinder, or only on a few problem cylinders. That's another one you want to do all cylinders to have a comparison between what's "good"/normal and what's low/problematic.
