Default Introduction

Good day eveyone! My name is Ian Hernandez and I live in the Philippines. We recently bought a 2007 c6 corvette base model with 14,500km. It's a Canadian variant and I just wanted to ask what I should expect especially with maintenance? Also other preventive tips are welcome. Thank you and stay safe! Also, I just wanted to have my harmonic balancer checked since I noticed a lot of people have been talking about the ls2 corvette's harmonic balancer issue. I uploaded the video on YouTube. Here's the link.

Welcome to the forum. Not every LS2 has HB issues. My HB had a very slight wobble when I purchased it, and it has never gotten any worse. I have a 2006 with 112k miles on the clock, and besides regular oil and filter changes, it is a great vehicle. I had to replace the water pump at 30k miles. At 50k miles, I replaced the brake pads once, the rotors are still in spec at my current milelage. I changed the shocks , the latest with Bilsteins. At 100k miles, I changed the rear diff fluid, and installed new axle nuts. Other fluids were changed as well.
Follow the owner's manual maintenance schedule and you will be fine.
If you don't have the paper owner's manual, you can download it on the net.

That HB in the video looks pretty good to me!! If you don't have the belt chirp/ squeak, jut monitor the HB occasionally, don't waste time and $$$ replacing anything that still is in good working order. This forum is GREAT!! Tons of good info posted here on about our beloved Corvettes.... But not every "common" problem happens to any given year/model of corvette. I've owned 7 corvettes so far, and I've done many necessary repairs/improvements and done many unnecessary
repairs and improvements to the various cars over the years, all based on the info that's discussed on this forum. I'm not at all unhappy about the "unnecessary" repairs I preformed, as I did have peace of mind afterwards.
At this moment, I am in the middle of replacing the cylinder heads on my really beautiful 2013 427 convertible with only 45,000 easy miles, to address the valve guides/ potential valve drop because of guide failures. If you follow this forum, EVERY LS7 427 has this problem.... I highly doubt that!!! My heads/ valves were super clean and in spec.
Big $$ and a lot of labor on my behalf, as I'm doing the job in my garage. But, I must admit that I am happy I am doing this repair, as the only way to know if there's a problem is to disassemble the top of the motor and have a machine shop check the heads/ valves/ guides out... If a valve did break, it would mean a new engine, wayy bigger $$$ and labor... Peace of mind isn't usually cheap or easy!
The HB is easily observed with zero engine disassembly , so just keep an eye on it, and enjoy the "Vette !!!

You may also have to protect your Vette from the high humidity and rain fall in your location. I'd park inside if possible, and make sure to use a dehumidifier of some sort on the interior.

Welcome to the forum. I have visited the Philippines many times and you live in a beautiful place. Never seen a Vette there as I bet you are one of the few.

Thank you, sramzzz! Yeah I'm one of the lucky few here. Majority of the cars that are owned by enthusiasts here are Porsches, GTRs, Ferraris, and etc. Corvettes are pretty rare. But from what I remember there are more Z06s than Z51s here.

Just so you know the Z06 is a corvette model and Z51 is a package that could added to a base car.

Congrats on purchase. We are considering moving there when I retire. Looked into bringing vette over there but seems cost prohibitive. Did you import yours or pick up one that had been brought over previously? What is the used market for vettes like there? Is there a corvette club I can join? Thanks.
