I will be installing some Kooks long tubes soon on my 2011 LS3 and had a few general questions. Can you get enough clearance to install these on standard jack stands? I want to put them on myself and don’t have access to a lift. Does the starter have to be removed? Should I wrap the starter on some heat shielding material? (Found a wrap at Autozone made specifically for starters) and lastly I thought I read somewhere that you don’t have to use 02 extensions for the front 02 sensors but I don’t see how that is possible. I will be deleting the rears and capping the bungs off. Thanks for any tips and info.

I haven't wrapped the starter on my LS7 equipped C5, with 1-7/8" Kooks. Original starter, 22 years old, 125,000 miles. I'd say it's not necessary, but a little insurance can't hurt. FWIW, my headers are not coated or wrapped, either. Only wrapped on collectors, not tubes....

Can be done on jack stands, yes. Don't need to remove the starter. I wrapped mine because "why not?", but you will need to remove the starter for that. Front O2 extensions are necessary.
In the Kooks install instructions it doesn’t mention any torque values, does anyone know what the torque specs are on the x pipe clamps and most importantly the ball and socket bolts at the collectors? (I have the stage 8 locking bolts)
Also what is the strip of heat shield for that comes in the install kit? Doesn’t mention it on the install sheet.
Turn the clamp nuts until you can't turn them anymore. The heat tape might be for wrapping wires.
I assumed that’s what the tape was for but there’s only one piece and I didn’t know if it was for a specific purpose. So on the nuts there no actual torque spec?!

no, Solaris is on the money. Well that's how I do it anyway.

Make sure to take out all the spark plugs.
if auto wrap the trans lines that are close to the headers
don’t tighten anything up until you have everything connected.

Nice, same setup I have. Mine is a manual so no need to do the trans lines. Def gonna remove the plugs, my luck I would def break one off. How tight did you eat the bolts at the collectors, just right or a specific torque number?

At the collectors just as tight as we could get themlike someone else had stated.
And I think the bolts to the heads are soft torque like 11ftlbs.
we also only put 2 of the center bolts on the headers till we got everything fitted.
make sure to expand the area where you stick the mufflers in. And use some lube to squeak them in.
you’ll have to take the 4 bolts off for the sway bar and let it hang to get the mufflers up too.
also painted the back of the mufflers. And plastidip the tips.

I have a Borla axle back that I installed myself and I’ve had the factory X pipe off a few times so I shouldn’t have any trouble with it. The bolts at the heads are 11ft lbs first pas then 18ft lbs final pass. I just couldn’t find anywhere online what the torque specs were on the collector bolts, I’m surprised Kooks didn’t include that in their install sheet.
