I have a 2011 Grand Sport Convertible 3lt which I bought about a month ago. It is my 1st C6 but I have had C4 and C5 previously with the C5 being a 6 speed as well. Anyway I was missing 10 to 15 percent of my 1 - 2 shifts and I was thinking damn I cannot be this out of practice driving a stick. So I started thinking I bought the car with 55600 on it and now have 57200 on it, I wonder if it needs a fluid change.
So I changed the fluid today, I cannot say what fluid was in it but I replaced it with the Royal Purple Syncmesh fluid and what a difference. Each gear now engages without much effort and the 1 - 2 shift seems to be solid. I figured I would post this for anyone who is having shifting issues and thinking the car doesn't have a lot of miles on it so it shouldn't be fluid. In my case it was in desperate need of a fluid change.
The symptoms I was experiencing besides the missed 1 - 2 shift was a significant amount of pressure being applied to the stick to ensure each gear engaged. Having just got the car and being my 1st C6 and 1st time with the TR6060 I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. I can now say hard shifting isn't normal based upon my results. So anyone who is a shade tree mechanic and is having a hard shift, a fluid swap might give you a better experience.
As a rule of thumb I usually assume general maintenance and fluid swaps are needed on any used car I buy, but I delayed on the tranny fluid only because I wasn't sure it was my lack of driving ability versus the fluid.
PS also flush your clutch reservoir to ensure that isn't causing you a problem. I did this the 1st 2 days I owned the car.

Good call on flushing the clutch reservoir, it's amazing how dirty it gets inside there in no time at all.
1-2 and 3-4 on my GS are a breeze, hopefully a MGW will fix my current terrible 2-3 shift. It fixed it on my C5, wish they were available for immediate shipment.
I had the same issue with my C5 and C6Z. I used Amsoil ATD in both cases but, ranger method replacing the clutch fluid makes the biggest immediate difference and seems to be needed more frequently than the engine oil. I've been considering going with Dot 5.1 for the clutch fluid, it doesn't absorb moisture like Dot4 and is compatible with Dot4. Not sure though, fluid changes of any kind don't always result in good things.

My shifting woes are not from the clutch fluid, they’re from me. Same thing with my C5. Short throw shifter and problem solved. While the stock c6 is much shorter than the c5 the throws are starting to feel really long. I came from a beater 5 speed economy car and sold by c5 about 11 years ago. Not a fan of the stock shift ****, even though the c5 **** was hideous i really liked it and even kept it with my B&M shifter. I sweat a lot, and live in south Florida, and my windows are always down so my hand slips on the stock shifter. Been considering throwing a RFE suede or alcantara shift **** on it when I throw an MGW on the current car.
MGW is a manufacturer of high quality short throw shifters manufactured in Augusta, GA.
I have one in my '08 Vette; Works very well with the Corvette "Anti Venom" mod.
