Scanner that reads TCM codes
My 6l80E builder has asked me if my new transmission has set any Transmission Control Module (TCM) codes. It seems my code scanner will not read TCM codes. Can someone recommend a reasonably priced scanner that will read TCM codes.
Thanks in advance.

Quick break down, and A/C Delco TDS is just used to flash in OEM module firmware into the OEM modules for the C6. If the car is 2008 or older, than TIS2000 can be used for the same OEM firmware flashing instead.
As for BCM type programming like fob learns, radio clearing to remarry, changing the RPO features in the BCM programming, and brake/clutch pedal relearns and such, then this is done in Tech2win software alone with the Nano. Also, Nano will allow scanning of all system, using the Tech2win software that comes with it.
As for ECM type re-progamming of the OEM firmware (tuning), tech II clone, Nano, nor any programs they run, can do this. To after market tune a ECM's OEM flashed firmware, you would need either HP tuner, or EFI live and it module instead.

They sure don't make this easy and I've been in the IT business for 30+ years...

The Nano is a MDI clone (what GM now uses instead of the Tech II hand held devices since the MGI can run GDS2 as well) that comes with Cracked Tech2win to use for free for Tech II needs (back to 1991), , as well as comes with cracked GDS2V21 for cars from 2013 forward.
List of what uses Tech II(win), or GDS2,

So since the Nano is a MDI I clone, runs Tech2win for free to work just like a Tech II with laptop, runs GDS2 for free, works as pass through module for TIS2000, and TDS on line, For all the vehicles that GM branding owns both domestic and abroad for dealership level diagnostics and repairs. (Deawoo, holden, saab, and such).
And why the Nano can run such software for free ( as well as gm now offering TDS $40 subscription per vin for 24 months as well, since TIS2000 only goes up to 2009), its the change in the right to repair laws from the fall out of manufacturers trying to monopolize the repair software use in their equipment to gouge farmers.

As for aftermarket tuning of the OEM ECM firmware (modding the oem firmware of the module once flashed in), you need something like HP tuner module and software instead. As for how HP tuner works, its a pay credit system per Vin that you need to pay to use the software on the car, and the paid credits are not world wide stored, but only stored on the single turners laptop that the software is loaded and used to aftermarket tune. Hence if someone has you tune, then goes to another tuner, will need to pay the credits again for that tuner to use the software on the car as well.
