I lost all forward gears and reverse after a quarter mile blast. The car will move a short distance after shutoff /restart and then quit again. My remote site transmission builder suspects a converter failure dumping debris into the trans fluid that is blocking the filter. The short movement after restart is a result of the debris clogging the filter dropping down in the pan before being sucked up to the filter again. I am waiting to get my car to my local shop to confirm the diagnosis.
If someone has experience with a 6L80E converter failure, what were your symptoms? Was your transmission trashed or could it be saved without a total re-build?
Thanks in advance.

Reason: typo
That’s what mine did when I welded 4-6 together and snapped it. Lol. On a serious note, if the converter is bad, don’t forget to flush lines and cooler when you flush out the trans. Trans may not need new parts if it’s a converter but you want to take it down far enough to verify there isn’t any TC parts floating around.
I finally was able to get the car into my shop. The shop reports no debris in the pan and no evidence of a converter failure. My shop suspects a trans pump failure. Thoughts?
I broke a pump in my ls1 z28. When you put it back together, very important to measure gap from converter to flex plate. If it’s over ( I believe, but check for exact number) .125 you need to shim it.
