So I have replaced the shafts and hubs on my 08 Z51 and all is well in Corvette land. (for now)
Since they still look good and in 2008 the Z51 was equipped from the factory with the same shaft they installed in the Z06 I would very much like to rebuild these rather than just throwing them away. Can anyone tell me if they are rebuild-able and can we get the parts to do so? I've looked around and cannot find any information on this. Anybody?????
Not worth it, since you have cup spine wear on the cup ends that go to the trans output shafts/ seal wear grooving on the outside, and the CV joints are peen as well.
On something like race axles, that you can stay in front of by servicing them before they are worn out, maybe, but even those are not built to be serviced as well.
Truth is on the axles, would be close to cost on a repair kit, as just picking up a new set from Rockauto isntead. So that way I look at it, kind of like the sway bar end links that need to be replaced about every 30K, and just part of the cost of maintenance replacement items on the car (that where not built to be rebuilt serviced to begin with).
OK Dano just thought I'd ask. I'm old school and I just like to rebuild things rather than just throw them away, too much waste in the world today. I'll take them to work and throw them in the wast steel container. I went to a trade school for high school in 69. Auto shop 4 hours a day fro 4 years because i love to fix things. Working on my cars is a Hobby for me just like shooting.
