I purchased a near stock 2011 GS A6 a little over a month ago and I'm planning to add so go fast goodies. I'm wanting to keep things as simple as possible but am a very capable DIY'er. Car came with Corsa Sport and I added a Vararam that I purchased 2nd hand on CF. Car is a cruiser but I have aspirations of taking it to the drag strip to see what it will do. Fastest car I've owned ran a 12.0 E/T and it would be cool to be deep into the 11's. Having said that, 10's would be dreamy. My previous hotrod was a 2000 Camaro with a bolt ons and a Yank SS3600.

Dilemma #1: I'd like to do a stall converter first but I'm not sure if I'll do a SC later or not. From what I've read, if I do a SC then a PAS 3400 converter seems to be preferred. But when you consider that I'd likely do a A&A I'm wondering if a Yank SS3600 would still be OK. Would the PAS still be preferred over the SS3600 with a centri SC? From what I've read, a Magnuson would need the PAS due to building power at a lower RPM. Can I get a witness on this converter logic?

Dilemma #2: Yank SS3600 with 325/30r19 A/S3+. My previous Camaro was only ~350hp and I added the Yank SS3600 and Toyo TQ DR's at the same time so I never ran the car on street tires.... setup was fantastic and I pulled consistent 1.65 60' with this setup. My current GS has pretty new 325/30/19 A/S3+ that I can barely break loose right now. I need a reality check about how well these A/S3+ tires will work with the SS3600. Are DR's a must if I want to hook on the street and at the strip?

This car isn't a DD but I want to be able to drive it anywhere and not sacrifice reliability or drivabiliy.

Thanks for the advice. I've already ordered a Hayden 679 and plan to install it soon.

I would do a 3400-3600 unless you are definitely going roots blower, then I would do 3000-3200. You will NEED drag radials, I’ve broken way more parts on street tires than drag radials. I personally would run a 17” rear rim but that’s just me! Street tires and a stall are a nightmare on the street, my buddy had a 4K in his bolt on C5 and the car went 10.8x at 120+mph

Thanks for the reminder about DR's Dave.

It's worth noting that I've considered a mild cam, Yank SS3600 and 2nd set of rear wheels with DR's and be done. I believe this should yield me mid to low 11's.

I think even a mild cam and that setup even on an 18-19” tire would put you in the 10s. Our track has officially closed so now closest track is almost 3 hours from me, with no trailer. Still on the hunt for OEM C5Z fronts, those C4 ZR1’s were the wrong offset. Getting new tires this month or early next, have a vacation planned sometime in the next few weeks and don’t know how the dates will line up yet. I want a cam too, I’ll probably be calling redline soon for a quote. They think I can get away with just doing the balancer, cam, springs, and pushrods since it’s low mileage. For peace of mind I would want to do th timing chain too. We’ll see
