Just got my calipers back from powder coater and putting new seals pistons dustboots on , my question is the dust boots is there an up or down. As they seem to have a flat side and raised side naturally to me the flat side should ride on the flat seating area or am I wrong. Raised side up?
Center fold, between the caliper channel end surface, and the part that is going to lock into the piston, goes downward into the caliper.
Post a photo of the seal both ways up, and easy to tell which side goes down in the caliper.
P.S, when the hell did I get the titled race director?????
Hell, used to be able to hide in place site way back when was just titled "Newbie".
I now see how the action works on the seal dano, much appreciated pal thanks for your time. I did the first caliper like that then I second guessed myself before starting the others cheers brother.
Who did the caliper rebuild for you? Mine are in dire need of a rebuild with completely shot seals, boots (melted and fused into the metal) and maybe pistons from tracking. I have a Doug Rippie SS piston rebuild kit but looking for a reliable place to rebuild them. Thanks

nothing to it as far as seals and dust/boot covers, all you need the new parts and some good assembly lube, I also got new caliper pad pins and had them powder coated, but trying to track down the rear caliper pistons as I want it all new.
Doug Rippie has SS pistons for the rear but pricey.
You can purchase Corvette decals to make them look stock. Not sure where but I saw them on this forum.
I used brake fluid as a lubricant when pushing the pistons in. I also put the boots on the pistons and then pushed them into the bores.
Easy job.
lol, alot of grunting and cursing, I just left a message on Doug's voicemail, only place I see them listed is on racing brakes website for $266.00, been trying to find the a little cheaper but most is discontinued. The picture does not do these calipers justice there a pearl orange color but look red in the picture. I'm gonna leave them a solid color. But I did get all the pins out the rears we're worse then the fronts
