So all you diff guys out there. I'm rebuilding my diff due to pinion bearing being shot and causing rear end noise on the highway. Basically I had zero preload left in the pinion. Spun it by hand and it would keep spinning when I let go.
Anyway, I have all the Kent moore tools and shim kit etc.
Couple of questions.
The manual only specs out preload on pinion not diff carrier bearings. I'm hoping that just following the manual and setting the shims per those instructions gives me a good preload. New bearings so like 15-20 in lbs. If not I probly just add shims to right side cover till I get a good preload.
What did anyone else do in this situation?
On last question. My ring has A1 and A2 measurements on the ring. It also has another # M227 on there. Anyone know what that # means?
you have the tools to get the side load right. top row to the right. go the c5 diy on setting up a rear differential.the diy thread is by (its showtime )
