Default Need help buying 08 C6Z

Ok

so there is a 08 C6Z on ebay that I'm interested in but there are a few things wrong with it.

First, there has been some performance upgrades put on it and the catalytic converters have been removed. The check engine light is on for that.

Also, the fuel gauge is not reading properly. The seller said he had the fuel sending unit replaced but the problem still exists. I read on here to replace the fuel tank sensors?

The car has some obvious mods to the motor.
seller is firm on price at $27,500.

Car appears to be very clean clean with 123,00 miles.

Any advice is appreciated.

Ok,

The catalytic converters were not removed, they were simply hollowed out. So what can I have done to at least get the check engine light turned off

The O2 sensors can be tuned out. But a C6Z with that many miles can be a money pit, clearly the work was not done by a professional shop or they would have fixed the engine light issue. What else was done that you don't know about? If you but this with the plans to dump.money into whatever it needs then that's fine but if this is going to be a daily I would skip it.

ehhh. that sounds problematic.

The fuel gauge issue could turn out to be very expensive to fix. thats hard to get to.

With that many miles, it obviously ran good for a long while. And it looks great. Are you a DIY guy? I hope so because if you consider picking up this car it will cost you a LOT of Vette Tax to work out the bugs. I would expect to put about $5K into it after the sale.

Stock manifolds, stock air box, stock cam (no lope) - doesn't seem like there were that many modifications, but if there are fuel system problems and an aftermarket intake that, to me, screams nitrous wet shot. I'd be looking for holes in the back or in the firewall where the nitrous lines and bottle(s) were.

EDIT: Side note, also with that many miles, if the heads were never addressed, I'd be looking at the valve guide wear. It needs a run at wide-open throttle to check for smoke out the back.

Good luck.

If you really want this car with over 123,000 miles on it, be prepared to spend at least a $1,000 in the first few months on it after purchasing.

Just curious if you bought it or passed? Also if you did not buy it see you still considering it?

Better questions are:
- Have you compared this to other 08Zs and see where the price stands
- What are your intentions for the car? DD, Track, project, etc.?

If you have that many concern’s and worries, move on from this Vette. A peaceful night’s sleep is worth more than any Corvette.
