06 convertible Body Control Module needed
Trying to replace an 06 BCM. Dealer says they are vin locked to the car they came out of but I am uncertain. I bought the used part # for the 06 bcm (15850986) and the dealer installed but the power soft top will not operate. Dealer says I must find the bcm out of an 06 convertible for it to work. The used bcm will crank the car and I can drive it but no power top also, the car does not know the shifter is in park and the acc will not cut off so I have to disconnect battery. Basically making the car undriveable to any degree. Anyone know more about this BCM issue? Are they married to the vin? Can anyone reprogram them? Dealer says it cant be reprogrammed. Does anyone know of used vette parts where I can get a specific model bcm such as one that came out of an 06 convertible?
This is really crazy that c6 parts are already discontinued.

Go on GMPARTSDIRECT.COM and find the part # and check on ebay to see if they have a used on if the 1st site I gave you doesn't turn one up.

bcm issue
Check car-part.com just make sure it's out of a 06 vert if that's what the dealers says. Anyone with a Tech 2 and access to GM software subscription service should be able to program it even if it's tied to another vin. Call some local shops to see if they can program a BCM in an 06 Corvette.
