Need help. I’m looking at a 2005 C6 at a dealership. Has a pro charger. Has 22,000 miles. I know nothing about pro chargers. Also has a cam. There is a tank in the back with what smells like alcohol. What is this? There is a pic below. And a pic of the charger. Any info or pros and cons of this is appreciated.
the tank is a methanol tank. he likely has a methanol injection system to supplement fuel and/or cool intake air. Id have this car checked out by a local performance shop that specializes in LS motors and tuning if you're considering purchase. Is there any paperwork for the build that came to the dealer with the car?

Thanks for your input. No there is no paper work. There are 3 gallons of the meth. The car has 21,000 miles on it. He traded it in for a C7 Z06.
The D1sc can make some good power if the pulley is fairly small, which means you'll need a lot of fuel. Is that a 3.8" pulley on it? I don't see an MSD Boost a pump. Do you know if they upgraded the fueling setup? I'm running a D1sc on a 3.6" pulley, E85, no meth and have an MSD BAP at near 20v on max just to keep the enough fuel to the injectors (barely).
Do they have a build sheet from the previous owner? That would be helpful to see what all went into it. I'm a bit shy on methanol, sounds like they may be making up for the lack of fueling through methanol. You can do it, but I'm pretty sure if you run out of methanol and don't notice, that engine is done. I'm not sure of any way of telling the ECU when the meth tank is empty and to change the spark timing back down to what it can handle, as well as change the lambda on the fly. That is why I went E85, lots safer in my humble opinion.
Like El Steveo said, please try to get an inspection done (PPI) at a local performance shop that knows LS motors. The can check compression and all that to make sure you're good, and probably take a look at the pistons w/ a bore scope to see if there are any speckles of teeny craters (signs of detonation), stuff like that.
I'm sure it will be fun if everything works and the methanol tank stays full.

thanks for your input. I believe that I will stay away from this car. I feel like I do not know enough and honestly know nothing at all about this set up. Too many red flags for me. Probably wait for the right C6 to come along. Maybe even find a Z06 C6 that’s right for me. For now just keep driving my 73 big block baby. Thanks again
Probably the wise choice. Performance mods like this are fine if you get a lot of enjoyment from them, but they come with a cost in reliability and complexity. Particularly when somebody else did the work, there's always a question of how well it was done. Yes, you can pay to have the work inspected, but even that can't catch everything.
