I have a leak right behind the left front tire below the brake and clutch master cylinders, it is not brake/clutch fluid but it is red and appears to be ATF. The car has the Z51 package and is a 6-spd manual. I think it has a gearbox cooler, could it be leaking from a cooling line?

The transmission cooler lines run up the center of the car until the firewall, where they angle toward the passenger side. Sure it isn't engine oil? The filter and drain plug and oil cooler fittings are all in that general area. Time to crawl under and have a closer look.
Been down there once already. At first I thought it was from the brake or clutch master cylinder but both are dry, I removed one of the splash panels for a good view of the clutch m/c. It's not engine oil, thought maybe coolant because of the color but it does not smell like DexCool. I might have time to get it up in the air again today but the rest of this week is pretty busy. I was planning on taking the car for a little trip on Tuesday but that's not gonna happen.
But just to confirm, there *are* cooling lines for the manual gearbox on an '06 Z51? How does it circulate, is there an internal pump in the gearbox?

On the '06 T56, there is an external pump bolted to the end plate where the torque tube attaches. Mechanical drive for the pump passes through the plate.
Gear oil is cooled/warmed by the heat exchanger inside the end tank on the right side of the radiator.

Thanks, I hope I can find something soon. As we all know leaks often start somewhere and end up somewhere else.
At this point I'm pretty sure it's coolant and I think I know why. I did not realize that the cap on the plastic header tank ratchets when fully tightened. I bought this car a few months ago and just replaced all the fluids and I did not fully tighten that cap although it was certainly snug. Could that allow coolant to escape through that short little overflow hose that goes nowhere?

If the cap leaks or is loose, the coolant will boil at a lower temperature. If your car got hot, it might have burped coolant out of the expansion tank.

Dexcool is orange like orange soda, universal is lime green. You said it was red? I'd lean twords gear oil if it's red depending what kind of gear oil you used.
