Default Replacing Harmonic Balancer 2005

I am going to replace my harmonic balancer and want to be efficient while I’m doing it. I plan on procharging/supercharging eventually, so what is a smart way to do this? ATI HB, ARP Bolt, new belt. Anything else I should do while I’m down there? I don’t plan on making a crazy HP build, but I’m new to the corvette and would love some advice. 05 manual, 58k miles

I did mine not too long ago. I replaced with a powerbond HB, ARP bolt, and pinned it while I was down there Incase I wanted to supercharge someday. I also replaced seal that goes around the exposed part of the crank, it was easy. Do the belts while there as well. Only issue is removing the steering rack to get access was a giant pain but nothing was difficult from a technical standpoint. I did need a stronger impact gun than I had to remove the HB pulley bolt.

Don't forget to add the diamond washer before installing the balancer.

As included in the comment of post #2...if you plan to supercharge you MUST pin the HB to the crank. The C6 crank snout is not keyed and the HB is friction fit, so pin it to handle the extra load.

Let us know as you build the car and ultimately SC & tune it.

there is a very thin washer designed to be friction to prevent it from rotating on the crank. If you pin it, no need for it. I would install it though just to keep the same spacing on the pulley but it’s so thin that if you don’t, you’ll be fine.

any specific pin? I always see people saying to pin it, but I’m not sure which one people use. I will be doing the ATI HB and ARP Bolt

Nothing special bro. Just get some cheap kit from Amazon that says it's compatible. The hardest part is just getting an angle on the crank to drill it. I used a 90 degree drill adaptor so I wouldn't have to remove my radiator and such.

Aftermarket HBs don't need the washer. It was only meant for OEM.
