Default 2005 Corvette P2135 fault code

Hi All,

I have ran into a throttle position sensor fault (P2135) with my 2005 Corvette. This topic was widely discussed on this forum, but unfortunately my problem did not go away after replacing the usual suspects.

P2135 indicates throttle position sensors (TPS) 1-2 correlation issue. The symptom was typical for code P2135. When applying the accelerator pedal to a certain position, the check engine light became active with code P2135. Reduce engine power was shown on the dash.

2 new throttles had been installed and the problem did not go away. Wiring harness between the throttle 6-pin connector and the ECM was checked. Pin-out was correct and no short or open circuit was detected. And just for the sake of trying, a new accelerator pedal was installed and that did not address the problem.

I have connected to Tech 2, and as I apply the accelerator pedal to a certain point, which correlates to about 35% throttle opening, TPS 2 was intermittently dropping to 9% open (1.86V). I have recorded the Tech 2 screen as I applied the accelerator pedal, see below.

Would the problem lie in the ECM? That seems to be the only component that I have not tested. Is there something else that I should check before looking for another ECM?

Appreciate the help.

Have you inspected the TPS sensor connector ??…I would remove it and do a drag test on the terminals especially the purple TPS2 wire looking for poor pin fitment…you can also do a “wiggle test” and see if the voltage drops out when moving the connector around…also looking at the purple signal wire at the ECM for pin fitment would not hurt either…I’m currently helping a Forum member with a TPS correlation code on his 03…won’t get back to testing for another week or so…C5’s have a separate “TAC Module”….yours does not have that module…did you replace the throttle body and sensor or just the sensor ??..I prefer using a scope for TPS testing since I can capture millions of voltage samples per second so no voltage drop outs are not seen.

Do you have a spare throttle body you can throw on there? The TPS is in the throttle body. If you find that you need a new throttle body, I have one that is in good working condition that I will sell you for $200. It is a silver blade model from a 2006 Z06, which I believe is correct for your 2005 LS2 also.

Yes I did check the connector. I have de-pinned all 6 terminals to check the crimp, and they are all good. The pins do not look like they are sprung open either.

I have replaced the whole throttle body. and just to make sure the new throttle body is not bad, I got a second new one. And the symptoms did not change.

Thanks. I have tried 2 different new throttle bodies. And they are the sliver blade ones.

Did you purchase an OEM TB or aftermarket both times ??…I’d remove the ECM connector and check both signal wires there for pin fitment…that voltage drop is what’s causing the DTC to set.

Thanks. I will check the connector again. And I have tried an OEM throttle and an aftermarket one. Neither helped to change the symptoms.

OK, just to give an update on this problem. Apparently I have received not 1 but 2 throttles that are not functional. One is the Dorman throttle and another is a refurbished OEM one. A new throttle from GM fixed the problem.

For the 2 other throttles I got, I couldn't tell if they are bad or just incompatible. Both are silver blade and are listed to be compatible with 2005 Corvette.

Can you share the link where you bought the throttle body?
