Airbag steering wheel coil question
Why does the 12 V to the paddle switches run through the "inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil"? What is the function of this module?
I want to repurpose the switches and am hesitant to do so until I understand how the coils are involved.

The module, a.k.a. the "clockspring," is a wiring interconnect. It allows wires to go from the steering wheel to the steering column without getting twisted up when you turn the wheel. It consists of a coil of wires inside a ring-shaped housing. The coil winds and unwinds as you turn the wheel, like a clock spring.
