Default C6 Installing C7 Homelink

Hello,

Silly question, probably has anyone installed a C7 homelink in a C6? My C6 is a 2008 edition. I couldn't find any threads on this topic here.

thanks,

Cédric

My C6 2008 has the home-link on the sun visor,
With that said. Most home-link system uses a 12 volt and a ground. Should be easy to hookup.

Mine doesn't, it has the Lear2u thing that went bankrupt. I was thinking of getting a newer Homelink and opening my visor and replacing the existing one. I'm not too clear on how the homelink is integrated with the vette. It looks like the harness has more than power arriving to it.

I have installed a couple of Homelinks in cars that didn't have them. All they needed was power and ground. And I hooked them up to a "switched" power source so the homelink was dead when the car was off. Keeps someone from getting into the garage if the car gets broken into when it's sitting in the driveway.

Thanks for the response and advice!

Do you have a reliable provider? I see two options, one is buying a thing from Amazon and the other is getting a C7 sun visor to retrieve the Homelink.

There are a lot of Homelink transmitters listed on ebay. I haven't checked Amazon. Make sure you are buying a Homelink transmitter and not a Lear Car-2-U. Homelink only has one light; Car-2-U has one light for each of the 3 transmitter buttons. The picture is of the Car-2-U transmitter in my 2012 Centennial GS.
