Default 2008 and up manual trans question

From what I can read, the 2008 and after manual transmissions are all a version of the tr-6060 transmission. The Z-51 and GS models have slightly different gear selection than the base model, but the actual transmission is the same. Is that correct? From what I can see the base trans can handle 600 lb-feet of torque. That is on the motor side, right? When I see people posting dyno sheets, that is wheel torque and would be 15% less (I think 15%, but somewhat of a guess) than motor. Over 500 at the wheels would mean over 600 at the motor. Can the transmissions be built to handle more torque? Are these cars running the risk of breaking the transmissions? Or, at least pushing them past what tremec rates them at? Is the tremec rating very conservative and this really isn’t an issue?

I believe that these transmissions are adequately strong, based on the fact that they don't routinely fail. The ones that do fail, are usually due to poor driving techniques. Constant burn outs and full power shifts will stress any transmission.

the ZR1 had its own different ratios, too. i don't remember if the non-Z06/ZR1 versions also had fluid cooler pumps, but i'm thinking only the ZR1 units were beefier from the factory.

either way - they can all be built to stronger standards... otherwise, every high-power car would be a ticking time bomb.

When the TR-6060 was introduced in 2008 there was no reference to the T56 in a factory installation as it was called a TR-6060. When the Magnum (aftermarket TR-6060) was introduced some of the vendors, us included, refered to it as the T56 Magnum which was incorrect. The Magnum was conservatively rated by Tremec at 700 Ft. lbs. The TR-6060 is the same. The Magnum and the T56 are completely different transmissions.
