Default Help with tech 2?

I have a clone tech 2 that I bought from a forum member a few years ago. He replaced the 32 mb card and it worked fine. I used it to bleed my brakes.

a few years later now and I go to use it and it says the Candi module isn’t connected. Can’t seem to get it to work so I assume it’s bad and order a new one. I end up not needing to use it so it sat for another year until this week.

new Candi module, same issue. Green light slowly blinks on the Candi.

anyone have any ideas???

I too have a clone and haven’t had this issue with it or any issues.

I would reach out to a forum member Dano523, he is most knowledgeable about the tech2’s.

Short of a bad card, bad connections at cord and board, could be DC to DC converter went bad.

DanO! Somehow I missed your response.

if it turns on, scrolls through menus, etc but just can’t connect to the Candi, could it still be the dc-dc converter?

also, would the fact that my key now only works when I put it in the glovebox slot (I’ve tried two brand new batteries with no change - the lock unlock function doesn’t even work) indicate that the malfunctioning tech2 has messed something up??

A bad VCI module will do that. Go to the self-test menu to run diagnostics.

I have the same issue as you, it turns out that if you unplug and replug the CANdi module it ends up working

I have the impression the candi module doesn't support well to be un storage as if a relay locks up.

You will notice the candi module not clicking, after a while it starts clicking.

Very annoying and I have the original one, not a cheap knock off.
