Tie Rod Problem

I am having a problem removing front tie rod . It got bent hitting a curb. I cannot figure out how to remove the clamp on the boot on the inner rod without messing it up. Is there some trick to getting clamp off? It's not the easiest to get to. Thanks in advance.

If I recall there is a notch on the clamp that fits a flat head screwdriver and you twist it open
