Default Battery dying after harmonic balancer replacement

after replacing balaner puller ....rack and pinion had to be droped starter removed to hold the flywheel, alternator etc....car went back together easier than i expected but now the battery will die in a day or two i charged the battery fully and went for a two hour drive while watching my voltage from inside the car i had the heater on and headlights .....i could watch the volts dropping little by little as i drove ...more so when i signaled or braked ..... so i figured bad alternator but i had it checked and it checked out ok as did the battery ........is it possible that i didn't get the wires on correctly to the starter ? i read somewhere that if you had two wires crossed that it would start but the voltage regulator in the alternator wouldn't send anything to the battery because of an open circuit ??? could this be the case or am i an idiot ..... ive checked grounds and just pissing my self off it gets so annoying having to open the truck to get into the door because what was a good battery yesterday is now dead again ..... any suggestions would be much appreciated

You more than likely have a bad or loose connection at the starter solenoid where the B+ cable from the alternator and the B+ from battery are tied in together at that location...to accurately diagnose this take one lead from your DVOM and place it on the B+ stud of the alternator and the other lead to B+ of your battery...you should read maybe 0.1 to 0.3 volts with the car running at 2500 RPM with some load on the system...headlights, blower motor etc...you are measuring voltage drop between these 2 points.

the c6 is different than shown, but his diagnostic advice is probably still the same. There are 2 large wires from the starter, one to the fuse center and to the alternator. The starter has a small rel;ay plug, and the alternator has a larger plug. There are also 2 ground wired on the passenger side above the starter, a large one and a small one.
