I'm having an issued installing the clamps from X-pipe to back pipes. I forgot to take a pic, but basically - I am not able to comfortably clock the bolt-side of the clamps up and out of the way. However, if I clock them down, they're sitting as low or lower than the cats - and this section of the underside is really crucial for clearing speed bumps, etc. I trimmed 8 threads from the bolts and can get them not to hit, but man they are close to the tunnel sides and upper stiffener plate. I can trim maybe 2 more threads and still get them to latch, but that's absolutely it.
I've called Kooks and while super friendly and nice, they are not offering another solution. I searched for different, more low profile clamp styles, but to no avail.
How about to the outside?
My Billy Boat exhaust is close together and those are clocked to the outside, it fits well on my 07 base.
Hm, it is 2.5" pipes though.
For those who may come across this. I have a 2007 M6 base. These mid pipes do not have the clearance to mount the cat to back section clamps up and out of the way. I tried all clocking positions and only this worked. I cut about 12 threads off the bolts and tucked them as tightly as I could in the middle. Also, you definitely want access to the bolts for future adjustment. Even if you can find a way to clock them up in the tunnel, I found I needed to access them for adjustment as I was doing the final steps of install.
I know the pic looks like they would juuuust about clear, but I assure you they do not.
I really like the system, but this should not be an issue with how much these all cost. Hope this helps others.
