Why is it that my local Chevrolet dealer has had my 2008 Corvette for 2 months and tells me that they cannot get part# 10337583 from Chevrolet? I find it on line from several places. Does Chevrolet really have that big of a problem? Does their representative still look at this site?
I just put a Z06 fuel pump in my GS this past week. I ordered the drivers side in tank lines just in case online. They contacted me said it was out of stock. Luckily, I was able to re-use my existing lines, just needed to replace the yellow o-rings in the lines.
The passenger side lines are also back ordered everywhere.
You should try speaking with the dealership tech who is working on your car. From what I have read, GM standard procedure is to replace the in-tank lines every time the tanks comes out the car. Since that is not an option, the existing lines should be re-used. If you can speak with the tech, I would ask if the lines are intact. If they are and it is just o-rings that need to be replaced well that is easy. If it is the tabs on the connector that are broken, the connector can be held in place with standard nylon zip ties. The tabs only hold the lines in place so the cross over tube can be connected. Once that is done, there is no way for the lines to move. Otherwise, your car will be out of commission for quite a while I am affraid.
Not sure how it is a "problem" for Chevrolet. You probably cannot buy parts for your 15-year-old television any more either and they made millions of those. These are 10-20 year old limited-production cars that are two generations old; manufacturers do not stock parts forever and the economics of making a production run preclude making new ones in many cases. As much as it stinks, it is only going to get worse until the aftermarket decides it can make money with reproduction parts ...
^ This... the C6 is in the awkward transition between oe support and aftermarket support. Parts will slowly get reproduced but ittl take a few years. C5's went through (technically still are going through) the same thing on alot of parts.

IF you really can get the oem part on line, talk to the dealer and see if they will accept it. I'm pretty sure they will not use a aftermarket part if that is what is available.
