I was reading through the threads about the Anti Venom Mod and was thinking about doing it to my Vette, i have a 2005 and i saw that the T56 Trans has two Detent Plugs, My question is, can the Venom Mod be done to a 2005 and which Detent Plug would you use if it can be done, Also do you use the same Oil Tite Drain Plug Gasket Part # 65277 as shown for the other year Vettes.
Yes on the same brass washer, but its not the back up and shift to reverse detent switches that your going after, but the shifter linkage detent up by the reverse lock out solenoid where you shimming it out so its ball has less tension on the shifter linkage.
Note, later 2006+ T-56, so only has the one back up/shift to reverse detent sensor alone on the lower right hand side that is not circled.
To add here, the Anti Venom Mod is a mixed blessing. Yes, you get less feel for the final into gear postion that allows you to sling shot the shifter into the next gear faster, but by shifting the trans that way (before the syncro's can speed match the gears for clean engagements), you can wear out the syncro's really quick instead.
So the only time I would suggest the mod, is where you have the MGW shifter **** way down, and its that final past the detent that is really hard verse the rest of the shift movement to that point. Hence you still want the final into gear position click feel, and just want it to feel like it a normal part of the shift like before.
So when doing the shim, start with the brass full thickness for a feel, and if push comes to shove, you can rub the shim on a file to thin it a degree, to add in a little more detent feel back in as needed.
